The Website

This site started as just an easy place to consolidate some information on the Internet. It's self hosted as a virtual machine on Windows Server ans has an associated SQL back end for services like the Family History portion. The code for the web pages is based on the freely available Saratoga-Weather.org and CarterLake.org weather scripts.

Family History

The database for Donnelly and Dancey genealogy is the primary repository for my research, though portions of it are mirrored to Ancestry.com as the Donnelly and Dancey Tree (Free account required).

The Weather Station

At the center is a Davis Instruments Vantage Pro 2. The entire system includes a thermo-hydrometer, anemometer, rain gauge, solar pyranometer, an ultraviolet radiation sensor and an air quality sensor. The anemometer is mounted at 33' above ground level and the air quality sensor is located clear of the house and yard for a high degree of accuracy. Data is transmitted over a 900mhz spread spectrum link then decoded, stored, and made available on the home LAN. A virtual machine running Windows Server and Weather Display processes the data in real time and places it onto a webserver running in a separate VM. Up to date data will refresh every 10 seconds on the Weather Summary page. Data is also forwarded to NOAA's MADIS system via CWOP/APRSWXNET and also uploaded to the Weather Underground on a regular basis at KWMAPLE39. It is located in the Glacier Pointe neighborhood in the City of Maple Valley, WA, 1500 ft north of the city of Black Diamond. In July 2021 the current system replaced an Oregon Scientific WMR968 which was in use for more than 15 years.
