58 1880 Census Records for Jasper County Iowa have her indicating her father was born in Kentucky and her father was born in Maryland. It appears as though it was left blank for her Mother, though I'm not sure. The same census lists her as 50 years old as of July 1, 1880 which would make her born in 1830. Demar, Johanna (I55)

59 1880 Census records have him listing his age as 66 on July 1 1880 which makes him born about 1814. This also makes him 16 years older than his wife, Johanna. Wilson, Robert White (I54)

60 1880 Census: Listed as Anna Rose Dietzman, Widow, Head of Household, 75, living with George Nicholson, 66, Retired Farmer and his wife Hannah Nicholson, 66.

The IGI = Johanna Rosine Obenauf born Trebnitz 2 1/2 miles NE of Gera.

IGI contains another Johanna Rosena of Trebnitz, born 21 Mar. 1803.Possible error.

Rev Henry Obenauf says born 1805.

IGI update 2/2/2000, gives a marriage to Dietzman 21 Jun, 1825

62 1910 Polk County, AR Census lists her marriage as 37 years which would put them getting married about 1873
The same census lists her age as 52 and her birthplace as Alabama and her parents birthplace both as Georgia and her ethnicity as English. Census enumeration was done on April 20th, 1910,

1900 White Twp, Polk County, AR Census lists her marriage as 26 years. Inconsistent with the 1910 census she lists her MOMS birthplace as Tennessee NOT Georgia. Her birth is listed her as Mar 1857. Census enumeration was done on June 11th, 1900.

This means that the answer to the length of marriage question has to be wrong in one of those by a little bit.

Her headstone calls her "Jane" so that's something to consider when researching. She probably went by Jane.

She's buried in AR but my notes from Aunt Katharine say she actually died in Oilton, OK. I have yet to find any evidence of any place of death.

65 A noted prohibitionist. Also a minister Dietzman, David (I326)

66 According to Kathy's dad (Joseph) John worked for the railroad and had a pub.

In the 1925 NY State Census he is at 592 7th Avenue in Brooklyn. His age is listed as 53 years and occupation a Carpenter.

In the 1920 census he shows up as living in Brooklyn at 320 Twenty Second Street, renting.
He lists his occupation as a Carpenter for the Street Railway
The enumeration was done on January 14th and he lists his age as 49.

In the 1915 NY State Census he is at 262 45th St in Brooklyn. Looks to be an apt. His age is listed as 45 and his occupation a carpenter..

In the 1910 census he shows up at 641 Sixth Avenue.
He lists his occupation as a Bartender in a saloon.
It appears and he lists his age as 39 and they say they've been married 9 years. Assuming they answered precisely that means they were married some time between May of 1900 and May of 1901.

In the 1900 census he is living at 355 Twenty First St, Brooklyn in the household of Harry H Webb. He is listed as a brother in law and he is single. That makes Harrys wife, Elisabeth his sister.

In the 1892 NY State census there are no addresses listed. He lists his occupation as a Harness Maker. He is living with his mother, Eliza his sister Mary and Harry Webb and Harrys wife Lizzie (aka Elizabeth, Johns sister) and their son Joseph. While we don't have an exact address in the 1892 census, they are in the 8th Ward, ED 13. According to the archives of NY this is

22d st
4th ave & 23d st
23d st

In the 1880 census he is living at 324 21st St, Brooklyn. He is living with his mother Eliza, sisters Mary, Maggie & Elisabeth and his brother James.

68 Age information based on 1900 census information. Based on Walter and Thomas's marriage cert her maiden name was Fouse or Foust and based on the 1880 census she lists her name as Mary M. Her name is Mary on one of the brothers marriage certs and Maggie on the other so I'm guessing this is probably really Mary Margaret. She also lists her birthplace on the 1880 census as Indiana though it's listed as Pennsylvania on the 1900 Census. Foust, Mary Margaret (I236)

85 As long as I can remember we always knew Leo as "Poppy". Mary always called him that too.

Worked for the Railraod as an boiler operator. Jerry says he worked the route between Bangor, Maine and New York city for awhile. He was married at that time to a woman in NY. He came home from work one day and she was sitting in her chair dead. Jerry said he had diphtheria at one point and had to spend time in a tent in central park for victims and all they gave him was brandy.

He was married once. His death certificate lists him as "Widowed". In the 1930 census he lists his age at first marriage as 24 and he was born in 1892 so that means he was first married in about 1916. In the 1921 census of Placentia/St. Marys, in Jerseyside he's listed as Single, and the only people in the house are him, Vincent, Emma and Mary. In the 1930 census he's listed as Widowed.

Has a brother named Vincent ("Vic") who came out west to open a facility for a paper company, Western Containers. Later moved to Canada to open another paper facility and maybe later to Wisconsin. Leo came out to Seattle to work for Vic as a boiler operator. His SS application shows Western Containers as his employer.

His SS application lists his birth year as 1893. The Baptism certificate lists his birth date as Sep 19, 1892 not 1893 so I think 1892 is probably correct.

He raised Mary and Paul H always thought of him as his grandfather when in fact he was Marys uncle.

The 1925 census of NY indicates he was naturalized in Detroit.

If thats not correct then another lead would be this petition for naturalization filed in Richmond County NY:

There is a remark on the record that says "Note in Margin" but it was not transcribed.

I believe Mary and William are family 18 in house 18 in the 1921 Census of Newfoundland, Placentia (Jerseyside) but Marys birth date is listed as 1875 which doesn't seem correct. This is because this is Williams second wife, Mary Ellen McHugh (McCue?). Mary Walsh died in 1918.
